An office building in Berlin.

In Berlin, it's all about the 'Kiez'. Where's the best place to go out? Where can you avoid the tourist hustle and bustle? When it comes to office hunting, the neighborhood (Kiez) plays a crucial role. We've taken a closer look at the Berlin neighborhoods that are currently the most popular in the startup scene.

Kreuzberg - Courtyards and Hipster Charm

Kreuzberg is one of the most coveted locations in Berlin's startup and creative scene. The neighborhood is diverse, trendy, with a wide selection of cafes and bars, and some of Berlin's most well-known startups are located here.

Around Moritzplatz, Schlesisches Tor, Kotti, and Paul-Lincke Ufer, internet companies like EyeEm, SumUp, Amorelie and ZenMate have their offices in the famous Berlin courtyards. Due to high demand, office prices have risen significantly in recent years. Third-wave coffee, vegan burritos for lunch, and a post-work beer by the Landwehrkanal - Kreuzberg is the best choice if you can afford it.

Office Prices: €7–22 / sqm*

Mitte - Between Tourists and Networkers

Mitte may not be the trendiest neighborhood anymore, but it's one of the most established in the Berlin startup scene. Some creative agencies (C3, aperto or Scholz & Friends), tech startups (Spotify or Houzz), and company builders like Hitfox have their headquarters here.

Rosenthaler Platz and Hackescher Markt are the most popular areas among startups, where they compete with tourists for a table at Kuchi or Shiso Burger.

You'll often find other founders, startup employees, or investors at St. Oberholz or Soho House.

Büro Preise: €7–22 / qm*

Neukölln - Among Creatives and Hipsters

Those with a slightly tighter budget will feel at home in Neukölln. Although the neighborhood was known as a troubled area not too long ago, it has now become a popular meeting point for creatives and a hub for nightlife.

The streets are bustling with pubs, cafes, and vintage shops. Several co-working spaces have been set up here, including Agora Collective or They Call It Coworking Neukölln.

Office Prices: €7–12 / sqm*

Wedding - Has Already Arrived

On the other side of the U8 line lies an area that was long considered one of Berlin's poorest. But Wedding is coming, or rather, has already arrived.

Wedding has a reputation for being more relaxed compared to other neighborhoods, but it's all the more exciting with its cool venues, pop-up shops, and galleries popping up more and more.

Startup teams are settling in former factories and warehouses. The Flying Elephant incubator has chosen a former brewery for its co-working space.

Wedding is close to Mitte, so you're well-connected by public transport and can save a few euros on your office rent.

Office Prices: €6.50–10 / sqm*
